Dr. Tim Owens, DDS wanted a dental practice closer to home and to some of his patients who travel to Fort Collins to see him.
“I have a lot of patients from Berthoud that come to Fort Collins,” Owens said. “It will be easier to visit us. They won’t have to drive as far. We have some Longmont and Loveland patients as well.”
Owens plans to open Owens Dental Berthoud, 509 Seventh St., on Nov. 6 as his second location. He will introduce the new office during an open house 4:30-7 p.m. Nov. 3.
“It’s just a little smaller. It won’t be as busy, but the services should be the same,” Owens said.
The services will include general, cosmetic, preventative and restorative dentistry and specialty services. There also will be digital scanning and 3D imaging, plus sedation will be available.
“When we do crowns for dental work, we scan it into the computer as opposed to (making) molds and models,” Owens said. “It’s for patient comfort. It’s more computer planning versus models.”
Owens also will offer root canals and oral surgeries, and he will provide porcelain composites, crowns and veneers.
“People love the metal-free dentistry,” Owens said.
Owens will work with Dr. Travis Rabun, DDS, in both the Berthoud and Fort Collins offices. He and Rabun like to welcome their patients like family with the practice centering on the core values of happiness, honesty, integrity, kindness, caring, collaboration, humility, ongoing improvement and builder.
“What’s a builder you might ask?” the website, owensdds.com, states. “To us, it means that we are constantly trying to build each other up—our team and our patients. We want to have a positive impact on the world around us—one interaction at a time.”
To open the Berthoud office, Owens remodeled the building at Seventh Street and Mountain Avenue. He wanted to make space for a modern dental practice while maintaining the charm of the old building, which has a farmhouse style to it.
“It’s pretty similar technology and workflow. It’s just a little, mini-version of what we have in Fort Collins,” Owens said.
Construction on the building, which began in early 2023, involved reconfiguring some of the interior walls to improve flow and functionality, evening out the floor, redoing the roofing and windows and updating the interior systems. The work is expected to be finished by mid-October.
“It definitely was older, and it’s nice to have a little facelift,” Owens said. “It definitely was in need of it.”
Owens likes the location of the building since it’s downtown in a visible place, he said.
“It’s more warm and inviting,” Owens said. “No one likes going to the dentist and a house seems more inviting and easier to be less anxious.”
Owens is in the process of hiring a dental hygienist, a dental assistant and a business administrator or office manager for his Berthoud practice.
Owens received his DDS from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 2004. When he and his family moved to Fort Collins in 2006, he began practicing at Harmony Dental Care, which became Owens Dental that same year and is located at 3506 Lockwood Drive, Ste. A. He is engaged in continuing education to learn about the newest technological advancements in dentistry and how they can benefit his patients. His education includes cosmetic dentistry, full mouth rehabilitations and sedation dentistry.
