Amy Kaylene Hanson
Jan. 16, 1974 — July 24, 2023

Our beloved Amy Kaylene Hanson was born on Jan. 16, 1974, and grew up in Brighton, Colo. and Berthoud, Colo. She was a long-time resident of Steamboat Springs, Colo. Amy Kaylene died on Monday, July 24, 2023, at the age of 49. Although it was unexpected and tragic, her soul is now released into the universe, amongst billions of stars in our galaxy where she will shine eternally, with every twinkle, with every shooting star.

Amy loved her family and friends. But more than anything and anyone, she loved her daughter, Sadie Savannah Skye. She transformed her life to mother her. Amy filled her life with song, love and holistic nature. Her passion for music brought any room to life and filled the hearts of those around her. She loved to dance and hold her daughter in her arms while listening to the smiles and giggles that filled their hearts. Together they would spend many treasured moments snuggling, watching movies, cooking, talking and sharing the wonders of our universe surrounding each other with their love. Like her mom, Sadie loves music, culinary delights and all the phenomena of nature and our universe.

Amy also loved practicing holistic care and helping people. Her time spent helping others with their healing journeys was magical, uplifting and impactful. She believed in others and worked hard to learn, share and give holistic healing to whomever she could reach. Amy would also help dogs and find holistic remedies and treatments for their healing as well.

Her love for animals was undeniable. If there was a lost dog and the question came about what one should do … Amy would solve the problem immediately. She would make it feel safe and loved take it home to nurture it and fill its days with cuddles and kisses. She spent everyday with her fur babies, Paisley, Warren and Shuggie doing just that.

Amy lived her life unapologetically, followed her heart and lived life on her terms. She was brave and a warrior in pursuing her dreams and goals. Her time here was cut short yet I believe these dreams will continue to thrive through our universe, through her cosmic energy.

Amy lifted the hearts of many, wiped many tears away from the ones she loved and inspired others, including children, by giving them joyful memories and leaving with them a feeling of being cherished and heard … her kindred aura shall remain unforgettable.

Amy is survived by her beautiful daughter, Sadie Hanson; her loving partner, Jeff Nissen; her father, John Lee Vancil; her brother, John John Vancil; her sister-in-law, Carmen Vancil; her nieces, Ara Vancil and Jenisis Swift; her grandmother, Lee Esterbrook; her uncle, Sam Vancil and by her aunt, Linda Vancil; her cousins, Jarrod Vancil and Summer Jones; and many other aunts, uncles, and cousins; her cherished pets, Paisely, Warren and Shuggie. She is preceded in death by her mother Pamela Jeanne Sharp; her grandfather Frank Esterbrook; her great aunt, Wanda Vancil; her grandparents Owen and Bessie Burgess; her beloved cousins, Kevin Hildreth and Brandon Vancil.

Please join us for a Celebration of Life honoring Amy’s life on Friday, Aug. 18, 2023, from 5 – 8 p.m., memorial service to start at 5:30 p.m., at the Shupe Homestead at 11931 N. 61st St., Longmont, Colo.

Let us find and encourage within ourselves, within our society, those gifts that make each of us special: not star power, not intellectual prowess, but the ineffable mystery and extraordinary beauty of the simple human heart.

We take comfort in knowing that Amy is free and surrounded by light. Our grief over losing her is infinite. And now she is too …an eternal flame in our hearts and in the galaxies above.
