Progressive dinner on Feb. 13 raises funds for Berthoud After Prom Event
By Surveyor staff
Grab family or friends, bring a date, or come solo, but make sure you don’t miss this year’s Berthoud After Prom Event Progressive Dinner on Sat., Feb. 13.
Patrons will enjoy a sampler at Berthoud Brewing Co., with amazing appetizers by Origins Catering, a taster at City Star Brewery (before 7:30 p.m.), hit the Whistle Stop Café for soup and fresh rolls by Brick Oven Pizza, then head out to the Trailhead Café at Grace Place to dine on lasagna and salad, and end the evening at Da Bean for dessert and coffee.
Tickets for the progressive dinner are on sale now, and the cost per person is $30, or $50 for two. Tickets can be purchased at Berthoud High School in the front office, Hays Market, or from after prom committee members, who can be contacted by email at [email protected].
One hundred percent of funds raised through the progressive dinner go towards the BHS After Prom Event. The After Prom Event is a fun, safe and substance-free event for students to participate in after the prom. Each year parents of the junior class unite as a volunteer team to create an all-out fun zone for our students. After Prom Event has become a positive tradition within the Berthoud community, and each year student attendance soars with the middle-of-the night festivities.
This year’s After Prom Event theme is “Outta This World” and will be held on May 7, after the formal dance. There will be food, games, activities and door prizes all provided free of charge to BHS juniors, seniors and their dates.
“Our intent with the After Prom Event is to make sure our kids have a safe and wonderful night of celebration, with the ultimate mission of doing whatever possible to draw the teens in and reduce or eliminate the potential tragic loss of one of our youth on what should be a joyous occasion,” said After Prom Event Co-Chairperson, Lynn Peterson.
The event is funded through monetary and material donations from residents of Berthoud and the surrounding communities.
“We couldn’t do it without the support of our community, so we’re hoping to see folks match or exceed what they so generously provided last year, so that we can truly make this an ‘Outta This World’ event,” said Kirsten Bump, committee representative. “We ask our community to support After Prom by coming out to experience the progressive dinner, contribute monetarily, or consider volunteering behind the scenes.”
Interested sponsors can contact Lynn Peterson at 970-532-2353, email [email protected] or Robin Billado at [email protected]. Checks can be made out to Berthoud Cares/APE 2016 and mailed to: BHS APE 2016, 850 Spartan Ave., Berthoud, CO 80513. Business sponsorships are available. Online Paypal donations can be made at http://berthoudcares.org/2016-berthoud-after-prom-event/.
