On Tuesday, nominations opened for candidates considering running for the Town of Berthoud’s Board of Trustees. Local elections on April 2 will ask Berthoud voters to elect three trustees and the mayor. Each office will be elected for a four-year term.

Mayor Will Karspeck announced his campaign for re-election before nominations opened on Jan. 2. No other candidates have publicly announced their interest yet.

Potential candidates are required to fill out a nomination petition and collect 10 valid signatures. The petition and signatures must be submitted to Town Hall before the Jan. 22 deadline.
Other eligibility requirements include being 18 years of age, currently registered to vote, being a United States citizen and having resided in Berthoud’s municipal boundaries for at least the past 12 months.

Nomination petitions are now available to be picked up from Town Hall. For further information on the election contact Town Clerk Christian Samora at (970) 532-2643 or visit www.berthoud.org.
