Across the state and here in Northern Colorado nonprofits are gearing up for the annual Colorado Gives Day on Dec. 6.  The statewide movement supported by a local foundation celebrates and works to increase philanthropy in Colorado through online giving.

Tuesday, Dec. 6 is an opportunity to come together with thousands of Coloradans to strengthen our communities by helping to power nonprofits doing incredible work across the state. Colorado Gives Day has grown to be the state’s largest 24-hour giving event, raising more than $362 million for nonprofits across the state since it began.

The Community First Foundation, First Bank and other community partners from across the state want to make your support of Colorado nonprofits go even further. Every donation made now through December 6 on ColoradoGives.org counts towards Colorado Gives Day and gets a boost from the $1.4 Million+ Incentive Fund.

The Community First Foundation began nearly two decades ago and created Colorado Gives Day in 2010 with the financial support of Colorado-based FirstBank. Community First Foundation helps generous donors and innovative nonprofits come together to improve quality of life and create positive change across the state of Colorado. To date, the foundation has raised more than $500 million for Colorado nonprofits.

ColoradoGives.org, where you can safely make your donations, is a year-round online giving platform featuring over 5,600 Colorado nonprofit organizations. The website, run by the Community First Foundation provides ways to give throughout the year, along with comprehensive, objective and up-to-date information about Colorado nonprofits and an easy way to support them online. Nonprofits are able to enroll through the site as well and are approved by the organization.

Berthoud nonprofits represented on the site include Berthoud Habitat for Humanity, RAFT, Berthoud Historical Society, House of Neighborly Service and Wildfire Community Arts Center located in Berthoud as well as dozens of other organizations that reach our local community participating through Colorado Gives.

There are several ways for donors, non-profits, and businesses to get involved in addition to cash donations including the purchase of giving cards. These cards can be purchased for any amount for friends, loved ones, teachers, customers, colleagues, and clients so they can support a worthy cause of their choosing. When the card is purchased, it is fully tax-deductible for the purchaser.

Coloradogives.org also provides a simple way for a group of individuals to fundraise together. Each participant has their own fundraiser, and your team campaign brings them all together for friendly competition with a leaderboard, easy-to-use management tools and a customizable team landing page to showcase the team’s progress. On the website, you can also find additional information about the movement as well as other ways to give throughout the year. You can also set up a free account where you can create a “my favorites” list for easy access, view your donor history and set up recurring donations.
