Max Marr Stadium gets video scoreboard thanks to new title sponsors

The scoreboard at Berthoud High School’s (BHS) Max Marr Stadium is being upgraded this coming spring to include a video screen. Financing for the video scoreboard has been made possible by four new local title sponsors for BHS. They are Adams Bank & Trust, Loveland Ford, NAPA Auto Parts and Orthopedic and Spine Center of the Rockies (OCR).

The video scoreboard has been in the works for a few years, but Covid-19 delayed the project. Kevin Clark, director of activities and athletics at Thompson School District (TSD), oversaw the project and secured the title sponsors.

The video board will be 12 feet tall and 27 feet wide. The four title sponsors will have customized half-minute advertisements that will play during home games at Max Marr Stadium. As title sponsors, they will receive marketing exposure at other events like BHS homecoming, Berthoud Day Parade, BHS graduation and other events at Max Marr Stadium. The title sponsors also have the option of using Max Marr Stadium for corporate events over the summer and select weekends.

In addition to Clark, Michael DeWall, BHS athletic director, and Christine Torres, who acted as a community liaison to identify and contact potential sponsors, helped make the video scoreboard a reality.

The video scoreboard will serve two purposes that are aligned with goals for BHS, TSD and the Berthoud community. First, it will elevate Spartan student-athletes and deliver a greater sporting experience for players and fans. Secondly, it will bring in more money to BHS for athletics and activities while also giving local businesses marketing opportunities in the growing community. Torres also hopes that the video scoreboard can be used in the future for concerts or other non-athletic events as well.

Construction is planned to begin in early February, weather permitting, so that the video scoreboard will be ready to go come spring soccer season.

The video scoreboard also opens the possibility for BHS to attract even more sponsorship agreements. Any local business or organization interested in marketing opportunities through BHS is encouraged to contact Christine Torres at (720) 320-1405.
