bridge-betweenThe Berthoud High School “Bridge Between” Show Choir competed in the Alamo Showcase of Music in San Antonio, Texas, on April 8. They received scores of “Superior” as well as a special recognition for Emma Maggi-Byers for her solo on the Duke Ellington piece, “Mood Indigo”. Additionally, they were awarded a “Best in Class” award. The trip was a great opportunity to, not only perform for judges away from Colorado, but also included a performance at the Alamo site itself; a rare opportunity the group took advantage of.

The 17 members of the group were accompanied by a number of parents as well as their directors, Rick Grotzky and Hannah Finch. While in San Antonio, the Bridge Between was able to do some sightseeing on the famous Riverwalk, a trip to the Tower of the Americas – the second tallest free-standing tower in the United States, a visit to a wildlife preserve, and a fun day at Six Flags Amusement Park. The performance at the Alamo was also informative, as the group took a tour of the site and learned some history of the area dating back to the Mexican-American War.
The trip made lasting memories for all involved and deepened the strong bonds of friendship that have been built this year.
