BHS show choir Best in Class at Alamo Showcase of Music
The Berthoud High School “Bridge Between” Show Choir competed in the Alamo Showcase of Music in San Antonio, Texas, on April 8. They received scores of “Superior” as well as a special recognition for Emma Maggi-Byers for her solo on the Duke Ellington piece, “Mood Indigo”. Additionally, they were awarded a “Best in Class” award. The trip was a great opportunity to, not only perform for judges away from Colorado, but also included a performance at the Alamo site itself; a rare opportunity the group took advantage of.
The 17 members of the group were accompanied by a number of parents as well as their directors, Rick Grotzky and Hannah Finch. While in San Antonio, the Bridge Between was able to do some sightseeing on the famous Riverwalk, a trip to the Tower of the Americas – the second tallest free-standing tower in the United States, a visit to a wildlife preserve, and a fun day at Six Flags Amusement Park. The performance at the Alamo was also informative, as the group took a tour of the site and learned some history of the area dating back to the Mexican-American War.
The trip made lasting memories for all involved and deepened the strong bonds of friendship that have been built this year.
