Lion’s Club car/motorcycle show to raise funds
The Berthoud Lion’s Club is gearing up for its annual car show on July 13, 2019. Actually, this year, the third edition of this fundraiser will include vintage motorcycles as well as automobiles. The club is teaming up with the Iron Order Motorcycle Club out of Fredrick, which has some Berthoud residence as its members.
The show will run from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Lion Depot located at 600 Third Street in Berthoud, according to Lion’s Club officer and event coordinator Cathy Heckman. The street in front of the Rancher’s Wife will be shut down for the show. Heckman says “The event has grown a little each year.” The first year there were about a dozen cars and last year 20-some. With the assistance of the motorcycle club, Heckman expects 30 to 40 entries.
The cost to enter a vehicle is $20. This can be done at 7:30 a.m. the day of the event or by calling or emailing Heckman. Her telephone number is 303-638-7814 and her email is [email protected].
Entrants are eligible to win one of three “best of show” trophies. Additionally, the first 50 participants will receive dash plates.
Heckman says the Lion’s Club goal is to raise enough money to send three disabled children to the Lion’s camp in Woodland Park, Colorado. The club will select Berthoud-area children.
On
July 13, there will not only be the cars and motorcycles on display but also a
varied of events. Heckman says a DJ will play music all day. There will be a
coloring contest, a snow cone machine and free face painting,
No one will go hungry since the Lion’s Club will provide food for sale, with
the proceeds going toward the camp fundraiser. Items for sale include barbeque,
cheeseburgers, hot dogs or pulled chicken with a choice of salad, baked beans
or chips, dessert and a drink.
Heckman says many of the 22 members of the local club are assisting but she needs volunteers the day of the event. Contact Heckman at the above email or telephone to find out her exact needs and time slots that need to be filled by volunteers.
