Work on the I-25 Bridge will shut down Southbound I-25 Friday and Saturday night
Special to the Surveyor
The I-25 North Express Lanes Project team will close southbound I-25 between Crossroads Boulevard and US 34 to place girders on the I-25 bridge over the Union Pacific Railroad tracks from 11 p.m., Friday, Feb. 28, until 6 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 29 and again from 10 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 29, until 5 a.m., Sunday, March 1.
Crews will also close the northbound I-25 left lane from 8 p.m., Friday, Feb. 28, until 5 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 29 and again from 8 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 29, until 5 a.m., Sunday, March 1.
Detour for the closure:
Southbound I-25 traffic will be detoured off I-25 at Crossroads Boulevard, then east to Centerra Parkway, and south on Centerra Parkway to US 34 and west to I-25.
CDOT’s commitment to highway safety, through their Whole System Whole Safety initiative, deems this closure necessary to protect motorists from potential danger posed by overhead work and equipment staged on the roadway as they travel along I-25.
The I-25 North Express Lanes: Johnstown to Fort Collins Project will increase capacity by adding an Express Lane in both directions, constructing inside and outside shoulders, and replacing aging bridges. The project will also improve multimodal access to regional transit to promote mode shift, improve bus service performance by adding new bus slip ramps from I-25 to the new Park-n-Ride at Kendall Parkway, and improve interchanges at CO 402, Prospect Road and US 34.
