Saturday afternoon residents of Collins Park West gathered to celebrate the Fourth of July with a children’s parade around Collins Park accompanied by marching band music, albeit from a MP3 player. Entry fee for the parade was one can of food. Twenty-five pounds of food were collected for the local food bank. The children decorated themselves and their bicycles and each participant received a recognition gift celebrating America’s Independence. Celebrants also enjoyed a cook-out at the Club House after the parade. Next year’s parade is already planned to set new participant and attendance records.
