Spring is coming! Arbor Day in the snow

April 30, 2018 | Local News

The Town of Berthoud’s Tree Advisory Committee hosted an Arbor Day celebration at Robert’s Lake Park on Saturday, April 21. For the 35th year Berthoud has earned the Tree City USA award for its commitment to urban forest management. Started in 1976, the Tree City USA program – sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation – works in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service and the National Association of State Foresters. The town achieved this recognition by meeting the program’s four requirements: a tree board or department, a tree-care ordinance, an annual community forestry budget of at least $2 per capita, and an Arbor Day observance and proclamation. This year’s proclamation was read by newly-elected town mayor, Will Karspeck.
