In last year’s inaugural event the benefit tournament raised over $29,162 for BHS. The golf tournament will be structured as an 18-hole, two-person scramble and the cost is $250 per player. Included in the entry fee is the 18-hole green fee with a cart, range balls, a continental breakfast, favors bag, entry into the pre-round putting competition, and the awards luncheon and silent auction following conclusion of the round.

Foursomes can be purchased by registering two teams simultaneously. Event registration begins at 7 a.m. when breakfast will be served; the putting competition will begin shortly thereafter. A 9:30 a.m. shotgun start begins the tournament which will conclude around 2:30 p.m. at which time the awards luncheon will begin.

The deadline to register for the event is Friday, Aug. 2, and anyone with questions is encouraged to contact the Berthoud Area Chamber of Commerce.

Berthoud High boys golf team announces try-out dates

Newly-minted Berthoud High head boys golf coach, Dave Hunn, announced this week the team will be holding try-outs next Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 5 and 6, at Loveland’s Mariana Butte Golf Course.

Tee-times will begin at 1 p.m. but interested players will need to arrive at the course no later than 12:15 p.m. Any incoming freshman through seniors are encouraged to try out, regardless of their experience level. Hunn, who also coaches the BHS girls golf team, brings decades of experience as a coach and golf teacher. Hunn is a teacher at Loveland’s Mountain View High School and said anyone who has further questions regarding BHS golf should contact him via telephone at (970) 227-8793 or email at [email protected].

Said Hunn, “Coach Perry and myself are really excited to take over the reigns of the Spartan golf programs. With the number of players showing up for offseason workouts, we are optimistic about the future of BHS golf.”

The 2019 golf season will begin on Thursday, Aug. 8 with a tournament at Pelican Lakes Golf Course in Windsor.
