Q&A with Berthoud town board candidate
Q&A with Berthoud town board candidate Ellyn Rush
Why am I running for town board? I am running for trustee for the town of Berthoud first and foremost because of my love of this town, community and the people. Having grown up here, I have fantastic memories of the way of life then and a desire to preserve some of that which attracted us all here in the first place. As a citizen, I believe it is important that we have people in place who recognize the benefit of transparency with fellow citizens and recognize that each voice matters!
Top 3 issues facingthe town.
Infrastructure: Ensuring that the town is up to date and able to handle the burdens we are placing on it with the density of growth that we are currently experiencing. This includes roadways, water supply and resource, waste management, telecommunications and power.
Public safety: Protection of our citizens and the general public in every aspect of their life in this town and surrounding community against any threats to their well-being and continued prosperity
of the community.
Balanced growth: Growth that is positive for the community but a balance of residential, income attainable, commercial, retail and industrial in order to generate the income and tax base necessary to support our growth.
What would you like Berthoud to look like in 10 years?
In the future, I would like to see neighboring farms, agriculture and open space preserved and the town to still be reflective of what brought us all here in the first place. Farming was the initial branding of this town and is something we need to consider of great importance in the future too. Family supportive with parks recreation and good schools that are not overloaded or struggling to provide education to our future generations.
