Obituary – William Whittington

May 19, 1935 – September 10, 2019

William Richard Whittington passed away at his home in Berthoud, Colo., at age 84 on Sept. 10, 2019. “Rich” was born in Oxnard, Calif., on May 19, 1935, to William and Thelma Whittington. Rich was a U.S. Marine, serving from 1958 until 1964. He worked as a heavy-equipment mechanic and operator until his retirement.

Rich enjoyed house boating on Lake Shasta and taking his jeep out on the Rubicon Trail in northern California. He loved evening bonfires with friends and riding his ATV in the desert of Quartzsite, Ariz. Ten years ago, Rich and his wife Carole moved to Colorado to be around family. Rich was a very dear man with a huge heart; he was always ready to help others. He was deeply loved and is greatly missed.
Rich is survived by his wife, Carole Whittington; his sister Ruthie; his children Michele, Kim, Rudi and Tom, 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and his best friend/son-in-law Dan. Rich is preceded in death by his son Alan and his brother David.
A Celebration of Life will be held at City Star Brewing, Berthoud, Colo., on Sept. 29 from 1- 4 p.m.
