Everdina “Diny” Pickert

Everdina Annamarie “Grandma Diny” Pickert passed peacefully and went to be with the Lord on the morning of Jan. 30, 2018 while lying in the arms of her true love. Her passing ended her courageous seven-year battle with pancreatic cancer. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family during the last days of her life.
Diny was born in Amsterdam on March 23, 1938, to her parents, Johann and Frances Broertjes Geerken. She and her family came to America when she was 16 and she met the love of her life, Brad Sr., shortly after her arrival in N.Y. They married in 1958 and raised four beautiful kids. Her time in New York was spent milking, raising, and showing cattle. She also led a youth group at their church with her husband, attended all of her kids sporting events, and sold sweet corn at the roadside stand. They moved the family farm from New York to Berthoud, Colo., in 1981, where she finished out her life. She and Brad shared 59 years of marriage together.
Diny enjoyed working on the farm, feeding her many farm calves, planting her garden, cooking for her husband and many others, making her locally-famous Rice Krispy treats and brownies, knitting, spending time with her family, and being the loudest fan at every Berthoud sporting event. She loved listening to her husband sing in the Barbershop Chorus and in the Methodist Church choir. She was involved in many charitable activities and groups. She was frequently found volunteering her time and efforts, and donating chocolate milk to classrooms and to the Berthoud sporting team dinners. Being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother brought her great joy. She was so proud of her family legacy. Diny will be remembered for her smile, her positivity, being a grandma to all, and for fiercely loving her husband, family and friends.
Diny is survived by her husband, Brad Pickert Sr., her brother Kees and his wife Katherine Geerken. She is also survived by their children and spouses, Brad (Kathy) Pickert, Adele (Kerry) Katchuk, Robert (Kelly) Pickert, Scott (Linda) Pickert; also survived by grandchildren, Ryan (Samantha) Vasquez, Chad Pickert (Kerri Rochan), Anthony (Christian) Katchuk, Cassandra (Derek) Kaczmarek, Megan (Danny) Fernandez, Jacquelyn Katchuk (Travis Sexton), J.T. Pickert, Preston Pickert, Danielle Pickert and five great grandchildren.
The celebration of life service will be held on Monday, Feb. 5, at 2 p.m. at Grace Place Church. 375 Meadowlark Dr., Berthoud, CO 80513.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Colorado Dairy Women at TBK Bank, PO Box 629, Mead, CO 80542.
