Diane Elizabeth McNalley

1940 – Feb. 16, 2018

Diane Elizabeth McNalley, 77, of Berthoud, Colo., passed away in her home on Feb. 16, 2018. She was preceded in death by her father James A. and mother Shirley E McNalley. She is survived by her son Dale James McNalley.

Diane was born in 1940 in Canton, Ohio. Later she attended CU-Boulder and completed her degree in English and Spanish. She always loved animals and started raising AKC German shepherds as well as registered Burmese cats.

Later Diane became fascinated with horses, and they became her livelihood. She bought her first horse in the mid ‘60s. She focused on thoroughbred horses and the horse-racing industry. She established a race-horse farm just outside of Berthoud, Colo., called Angel Fire Thoroughbreds. Diane continued to operate the farm until her passing. She was also active with the Colorado Thoroughbred Breeders Association and served as secretary/treasurer for many years. The farm and the horses were her life, as she died doing what she loved.

Diane was a wonderful person with a strong will and giving spirit. After moving to Berthoud in 1983 she would take the neighbor kids to Cheyenne Frontier Days every summer to see concerts like the Oakridge Boys and George Strait.
