Special to the Surveyor

The Philanthropic Education Organization (P.E.O.) Chapter HA hosted a Valentine themed tea at the historic McCarty-Fickel Home Museum Saturday, Feb. 8, 2020. The event raised money to fund scholarships for high school girls and women pursuing higher degrees of education.

Two seatings of 30 guests filled the living and dining rooms of the McCarty-Fickel house. Guests included many young girls who attended with their mothers and grandmothers. Vintage hats and scarves were available to add finery to the occasion. Guests enjoyed a selection of three teas while tasting delicious homemade scones, muffins, tea sandwiches and cookies that filled 3-tiered servers to overflowing at every table. PEO servers wore bright, red and white aprons to compliment the Valentine theme. Many guests commented that they would be delighted to attend another tea next year.

PEO Chapter HA thanks all who participated from preparing the food, donating their fine linens and silver, to arranging flowers and serving the guests. Over $1500 was raised to help advance the education of worthy women and girls.
