LCSO deputies fatally shoot man after car chase
Larimer County Sheriff’s Office deputies shot and killed a man who reportedly fled from a traffic stop in Berthoud. A deputy attempted to stop a vehicle near Interstate 25 and Highway 56 shortly after midnight Monday when the driver fled the scene.
The vehicle sped away heading northbound on I-25. The vehicle eventually exited at Crossroads Boulevard and drove eastbound. A deputy successfully executed a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT Maneuver) near Crossroads Boulevard and Centerra Parkway causing the suspect vehicle to come to a stop.
The adult male and sole occupant of the vehicle was armed with a rifle and deputies fired their weapons at him. The suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Eighth Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team was activated as a result of the officer-involved shooting, and Fort Collins Police Services will be leading the investigation.
