James Schotanes, 71, of Berthoud, passed away May 2, 2016. James moved to Colorado in 1980 and in 1981 bought 525 Southview Rd in Berthoud, where he lived ever since.

James is survived by wife Margaret Schotanes; brother Bob Schotanes, New Jersey; two step-daughters, Sonia and Stacey Merck, Longmont, Colo.; three grandchildren, Michael, Kianna, and Denae; one great- grandchild, Alexa; and another great-grandchild on the way.

James had his own painting business until he retired.

Celebration of life will be held June 5, 2016, at Eagle Grill in Longmont – 17th and Hover − from 2 – 6 p.m.
