Berthoud Elementary school second grader Gavin Volden stands with classmate Marcus Seaton who surprised his friend with a poster and balloons on World Diabetes Day, Nov. 14. Gavin has Type 1 Diabetes, a chronic condition in which the pancreas produces little or no insulin. Blue is the color that represents Type 1 Diabetes. To honor his friend Gavin also brought blue bracelets for the rest of the class to wear and support their friend.
