Movie nights are returning to Fickel Park this summer with a great lineup of family-friendly films.
Playing every other Thursday evening from June 15 to August 10, the movies will start around dusk, about 8:15 – 8:30 p.m. Moviegoers can arrive between 7:30 and 8 p.m. to claim a prime seat on the lawn.
The five featured films will be:
June 15 — Moana (PG for peril, some scary images)
June 29 — Top Gun Maverick (PG-13 for sequences of intense action, some strong language)
July 13 — Finding Nemo (G – appropriate for all ages)
July 27 — Rango (PG for rude humor, language, smoking, violence (character run over by a car)
August 10 — Minions: The Rise of Gru (PG for adult themes, crude humor, scary villains)
The summer film series was created by local businesswomen and sisters, Lynette Kiehn and Alissa Volpe, known as Your Platinum Team at RE/MAX Alliance Realty. Their first movies-in-the-park season was a big hit last summer. “Berthoud didn’t have an event like this so we wanted to make it happen,” said Kiehn. “This event is to bring the community together.” The sisters decided that involving sponsors would help promote local businesses and send a message to the community that businesses are here to help. “We love partnering with businesses and all the members in our community to create lasting relationships moving forward,” Kiehn emphasized.
This year the team partnered with the Town of Berthoud to co-host the events and piggyback on the town’s re-vamped Fickel’s Farmers Market. The market will be held every Thursday evening in the park from June 9 through Sept. 21, 4-7 p.m. Steve Hensley, Berthoud’s recreation supervisor is coordinating with the Platinum team to ensure they have what they need from the town for successful events.
Kiehn encourages movie-goers to bring blankets or lawn chairs for comfortable seating on the park grounds. Her Platinum Team will provide goodie bags for every movie. They are also providing a photo booth for fun family snapshots. The Lions Club will contribute free snow cones and popcorn. Optional donations will be accepted in support of the Lions Club.
Local business movie sponsors are B-Town Automotive, Berthoud Weekly Surveyor, Lefthand Print Works, Lions Club International, Mountain Ridge Dentistry, Rad Rentals and Taryn Stesen-Country Financial Insurance. Sponsors may provide additional items and giveaways to enhance the theme of the movie they sponsor. Sponsors will also have the opportunity to do a short interview prior to the film.
After the final movie showing on Aug. 10, there will be a party with additional activities to celebrate the childrens’ return to school and in anticipation of movie nights returning to the park in 2024.
Look for additional announcements about events and prizes connected to each movie on the @yourplatinumteam Facebook page. The event will also soon appear on Eventbrite. You may also contact Lynette Kiehn for more information: [email protected].
