Sometimes cats and dogs get anxious about going to the vet, so Dr. Jessica Albright figured she should go mobile with her veterinary services.

Albright started Country Haven Veterinary Services in June 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic for that reason and so that her clients wouldn’t have to leave their home or drop their pets off at the office for care.

“I wanted it to be that haven for animals that are scared to go into brick and mortars,” said Albright, veterinarian and co-owner of the Loveland-based practice with Francisco Ramos of Greeley. “It’s nicer and easier on them and their pets to have care at home.”

Albright operates her clinic entirely out of a La Boit mobile medical vehicle. She decided to not open an office post-pandemic since her clients like the mobile option, especially if they work from home or have pets who don’t like going to the vet. If the animals are scared to enter her mobile unit, she’ll conduct the exams in the client’s house or yard, plus she allows the clients to be with their animals the entire time to help calm them down.

“It’s so much easier on the animal,” Albright said. “There are no other animals around. It’s a nice one-on-one time for that patient.”

Albright includes the word “country” in the name of her business, since she practices on large and small animals.

“It seemed to be a fit for what I wanted my practice to be,” Albright said.

Albright offers a full line of veterinary services exclusive of hospitalizations for small animals, primarily cats and dogs, plus small mammals like Guinea pigs, hamsters and rabbits. The list of services includes wellness exams, vaccinations, in-house bloodwork, X-rays, abdominal ultrasounds, laser therapy, surgeries, and dental cleanings and extractions.

For large animals, such as livestock like horses, cows, goats, llamas, alpacas and chickens, Albright conducts wellness exams, gives vaccinations, does bloodwork and treats teeth floats on horses.

“A lot of times I go the extra mile for my clients and patients,” Albright said. “I try to give the best medicine I can for them.”

Albright’s mobile unit is 26 feet long and looks like an RV, she said. Inside, there is a treatment table and countertops with storage above, a workstation, a lab area and a surgery room in back, plus three kennels.

“It looks like a little compact clinic,” Albright said.

Albright covers Northern Colorado, including Berthoud, Loveland and Fort Collins, plus the area from Brighton to Carr and along the Front Range to the U.S. 85 corridor. She treats 50 to 90 patients a week, which varies depending on the number of surgeries she has on her schedule. She’s hoping to add one to two vets to her staff, which currently includes a certified vet technician, a technician and a receptionist.

“We are hoping to look for additional help because we’re growing so fast. It’s more than one doctor can keep up with,” Albright said.

Albright earned her doctorate of veterinary medicine in 2015 from Colorado State University, then worked for two clinics in Nevada for two years and a general practice in Firestone for three years. She also provided extra help at Royal Vista Veterinary Specialists in Windsor.

“We have little extra charge for that concierge service of coming to you,” Albright sai
