October 07, 2021 | Local News

Construction activities continue to ramp up at the Chimney Hollow Reservoir. With more than 90 Barnard employees at the store, excavation work is being done at the main, saddle and cofferdam sites. Other work items include quarry development, material processing (crushing) and building the saddle dam access road. There are also approximately 50 pieces of mobile equipment at the site. The first blast at the main dam site occurred on Friday, Oct. 1. It is anticipated that blasting will occur twice a week in the main dam foundation for the foreseeable future. The first quarry blast is scheduled for next month and quarry blasting will move to daily during dam construction. A blasting schedule is available at chineyhollow.org. There are also time-lapse photos on the website.
