On May 30, 2019, at approximately 3:28 a.m., the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office was notified of an attempted burglary at Ted’s Place located at 6511 US 287 in Laporte. An employee was inside the business and advised two males tried to kick in the locked front door but were not successful and fled southbound on US 287 in a tan colored SUV.

A deputy spotted the suspect vehicle leaving the parking lot of the Shell gas station at 3312 West County Road 54G in Laporte and attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle refused to stop. The deputy pursued the vehicle eastbound through Laporte and into Fort Collins on North College Avenue. The suspect vehicle ran multiple red lights and deputies terminated the pursuit when it reached the north end of Old Town.

Deputies resumed the pursuit in the area of South College Avenue and West Trilby Road after road spikes were in place near Carpenter Road. The suspect vehicle avoided the road spikes and turned east on Carpenter Road driving at speeds over 100 mph. The pursuit continued eastbound past Interstate 25 into Windsor, southbound on Highway 257, and then westbound on State Highway 60.

At approximately 4:06 a.m., Colorado State Patrol troopers successfully deployed road spikes at State Highway 60 and Interstate 25 and the suspect vehicle stopped west of the interstate. The passenger (15-year-old male from Denver) was taken into custody and the driver fled on foot. A perimeter was set up west of Interstate 25 between State Highway 60 and State Highway 56. Deputies attempted to locate the second suspect using a K9 and a drone. He was later located outside the Love’s Travel Stop at 3800 East County Road 56 in Berthoud at about 9:20 a.m. and taken into custody without incident. He was identified as Miguel Angel Lozoya (11/26/1995) of Denver.

While the first vehicle pursuit was in progress, deputies responded to the Shell gas station at 3312 West County Road 54G in Laporte and found the front door was broken and the business was entered.
The juvenile was transported to the Larimer County Juvenile Assessment Center (The HUB). The investigation is ongoing and the two males are expected to be charged with multiple crimes.
