Berthoud’s recreation director earns national certification

Jeremy Olinger, the Town of Berthoud’s recreation director, is now a Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) with the National Parks and Recreation Association. The CPRP is a national certification that is recognized in the parks and recreation field for directors as well as other parks and recreation professionals. In order to earn the certification, the applicant must demonstrate knowledge of the industry, have had recreation education and extensive experience in the field. The certification requires professionals to earn continuing education credits to maintain their certification in the future.

As well, Olinger earned a Certified Pool Operator (CPO) in February 2015. This certification is required of professionals who operate and manage public pools.

The Berthoud Parks and Recreation Department consists of four divisions: Parks, Recreation, Pool, and Forestry. There are five full-time staff that operates and maintains these divisions year round. In addition to planning and running recreation programs year round, the staff also maintains Berthoud’s 60 acres of parkland, five miles of trails, five baseball fields, one soccer field and natural areas, as well as the Berthoud Community Pool.
