A neighbor reported hearing the disturbance which was taking place outside the home in the early morning hours of Saturday. Upon walking outside of their home to investigate two minors ran from the home where the argument was taking place and according to this individual asked the neighbor for help. The neighbor took the minors inside their home and contacted the police. The neighbor shortly after reported hearing one gunshot.
McLaughlin had his first court appearance Tuesday where he was informed of the charges he is facing. Public defender Matthew Morriss asked the judge to consider bond for the suspect during his next court appearance stating there is no probable cause for the charge.
McLaughlin’s next court appearance will be presided over by 8th Judicial District Judge Gregory Lammons on Sept. 17 at 8:30 a.m. in the Larimer County Justice Center in Fort Collins.
A GoFundMe Page has been set up to cover funeral expenses and to support the family of the deceased. Kreutzer leaves behind a wife and a 6-year-old daughter. As of Tuesday nearly $15,000 had been raised.
