RAFT recognizes volunteers’ efforts during second year

The Rural Alternative for Transportation (RAFT) group met on Jan. 6 for their second annual appreciation breakfast and gave awards to participants in the program in 2015. Driver of the Year (over 14,000 miles driven during 2015): Ron Hunt of Berthoud. (Pictured at left with Ruth Fletcher-Carter.)

Driver of the Month (over 600 miles in a single month): Nancy Frink of Berthoud.

Certificates of appreciation for first-year drivers: Nancy Frink, Wayne McLane, Adwyn Lim.

Certificates for second-year drivers present: Don Crain, Art Johnson, John Beck, Meagan Foster, Diane Pugh, Johnny Prock, Neil Sperandeo, David Dinsmore, Clyde Hodge, Stan Linnertz, Ron Hunt, and Marian Maggi.

Certificates to RAFT sponsors present: Berthoud Weekly Surveyor, Home State Bank, Lefthand Print Works, Linnertz Hardware Flooring, Quality Renovations and Home Services, and RE/Max Town and Country Realty.

Certificates to RAFT board members: Don Crain, Marcy Greenslit, Marian Maggi, Jerry Hoard, Sr., Stanley Linnertz and Scott Banzhaf. Absent was Larry Frye. Also present: Ruth Fletcher-Carter, RAFT coordinator.

VIPs in attendance: Jan L. Dowker, Berthoud mayor pro tem; Lynda Meyer, manager of the Larimer County Office on Aging; Stephanie Morris, program quality assurance coordinator for LCOA; and Lenora McCloughan, director of Berthoud Golden Links, Inc. (Berthoud Senior Center).

2014 initial year of RAFT service: Over 21,000 miles and 900 trip driven by volunteer drivers.

2015 second year of RAFT service: Over 31, 000 miles and 1,100 trips driven by volunteer drivers.
